Last night we went to Don Pablo's because we had a free entree coupon and since Marissa doesn't eat an entree, it was a great deal. You really can't beat $6 for dinner for two. We've been stingy with our money lately but this deal was just too good to pass up so we went for it. Now it's back to eating whatever we have in our apartment and that's it.

another boring weekend

Wish I had something fun and interesting to write here of stories from the weekend but I really don't. After work on Friday, Marissa and I went to the Turf Club for dinner with Josh and Sarah and had a good meal there and saw the shuttle launch, which was nifty. We had bolder ambitions to see the night launch from a better spot but dinner took longer than we thought and we had to settle for the spot we found. It was still cool to see, but next time we ought to get a better spot.

Saturday we basically hung around the apartment and did little of nothing. We ran a few errands but mostly sat at home and were mostly bored. I can handle sitting at home and doing nothing but I know it bothers Marissa, yet there really is not much to do if you don't want to spend any money so it's a difficult situation to be in. Marissa worked on Sunday so I spent my afternoon trying to get Battlefield 2 to work, as I had lost the CD and the game refused to work without it. Let's just say I was successful despite not finding the CD.

The big issue before us now is what to do about Thanksgiving. Rental car prices are just absurd and we're trying to figure out something that will be reasonable for a car rental. I looked into taxis but that was a joke so we're back to looking for a car rental under $200 for the 4 days. The problem is we are renting for 4 days and a weekend rental is only 3 days and a week rental is 5 days so we're in this stupid spot where there are no good deals.

This was too funny to pass up so here's a quick story from work today. We were discussing musical taste and I brought up Mötley Crüe. One of my coworkers, had no idea who Mötley Crüe was. This is a dramatization of how the conversation went...

Me: ...Mötley Crüe.
Her: Who?
Me: You know.....Mötley Crüe....80's band?
Her: No, I never heard of them
Me: Do you know who Tommy Lee is?
Her:....Tommy Lee Jones?

All I can say is quite clearly the educational system in this country needs improvement. It was quite funny to hear.

Last night we spent some time visiting friends who were in town and had pizza in their hotel room and generally hung out. The great thing about living in Orlando is sooner or later, many of our friends come into town for business or pleasure and it's nice to be see friends as often as we do despite not really living near any of them. So the lesson to be learned here is if you're going to move away, move somewhere where your friends are likely to go anyway on their own for one reason or another.

Yesterday at work we had some Arab food and it was good to have some again. When I lived in New York, Spock and I used to go to this restaurant that was owned by a nice Arab (I think he was Egyptian) and he made some killer sandwiches and they were pretty cheap. We used to then take these sandwiches to City Hall park and eat them but all of the sauces and such in them would run all over and we'd make a huge mess. So having my schwarma platter yesterday kind of reminded me of that.
