Goodbye work

Today is my last day of work until October 1st, thanks to this little thing I call a honeymoon (and yea, wedding too). Way back when we were planning our days off to take, I insisted on working on Wednesday in some misplaced noble notion about being responsible. I really wish I had listened to Marissa and taken today off. With my folks in town and others starting to filter in today, I wish I was back home to enjoy. I thought about calling in sick or emailing my boss to tell him I was taking today off or any other means of leaving here early but what's done is done and I'll stick with my decision, even if I'm lamenting it right now.

Tonight we have dinner plans at Jiko, which is evidently my family's favorite restaurant at Walt Disney World. There is such good food there and I really enjoy eating there and personally I'm glad that there is somewhere on Disney property that still makes the rest of my family want to actually go.

Speaking of Disney, John & Carrie (and their kids and parents) are flying in today and I'll be meeting them after work today to spend some time with in the parks. I believe they are going to Epcot so I'll hang out with them for a bit until they have to go to dinner and then get across property to meet my family for dinner. I wish I had more time to spend with the Heaths in the parks but they know the deal with the wedding and certainly whatever time I can get in with them, I'll take.

Last night we went out to Bucca di beppo with Marissa's parents and we shared a rather large (very) thin crust pizza. I was surprised by how good it was (that or I'm getting used to bad Florida pizza) and we did a little shopping in the mall as well. Afterwards, Marissa and I met my parents for dinner at Key W. Kools and had the mahi-mahi, which wasn't bad either (yes, I did have two dinners last night). With the way this week has started off in terms of dining, I fully expect to weigh 350 lbs by the time I return from my cruise.

Today marks the beginning of the wedding week I think. Both of our parents are coming into town along with some other family members and as we move forward beyond today, we'll dive deeper and deeper into our wedding plans. I'm still very excited, although we have a lot of little things to tend to. Nothing is a major show stopping problem; rather, we simply need to address a few minor issues and I know it can be daunting to deal with but it will be good to have some help here. Plus, it's going to be nice to have some family around in general.

After work today I have to run my own set of errands that are somehow related to the wedding in one way or another. Nothing overly exciting, but I do need to finish up things that I did not get done for one reason or another yesterday. What bothers me more was I didn't go to the gym yesterday and I fear I won't be able to go to the gym until the cruise, and that's assuming I actually find the motivation to go work out on the cruise. I fear I will return home after our honeymoon much fatter and out of shape than I am now.

I swear I did not make this but I sure do want one!

Last Monday for a while

It's Monday and ordinarily I might be bummed about that but to be honest, it's not so bad. Okay, it still sucks and I'd much rather be sleeping, but, considering this is the last Monday morning I'll be at work for the next 2 weeks or so, I'm not terribly bothered by it. Plus, I'm only working through Wednesday this week so I'm not sweating it that much. I kind of wish I wasn't working on Wednesday now as weeks ago I pleaded to work on Wednesday but looking at things now, I wouldn't have minded taking Wednesday off and starting my wedding/honeymoon vacation a little earlier. Nevertheless, I'm excited about this week and it's really, really crazy to think I'll be married on Saturday.

Aside from having to run a number of errands after work today, today is actually the "calm before the storm". Tomorrow my folks and Marissa's parents come into town and then we all get on the wedding roller coaster to begin our week together. I think we're all pretty excited for what's to come. I know my parents are looking forward to it a little more than they have previously because of the passing of my grandmother two weeks ago as it'll give them a good opportunity to see family and celebrate.

Regardless of all I have to do this week, I need to make room for episode two of the Sarah Connor Chronicles tonight. Sure, I'll be Tivo'ing it anyway but I suspect it will be difficult for me to watch it later this week and I'll have enough to watch when I return on Tivo from the honeymoon. Last week I totally geeked out that there is a T-1000 character that has been introduced so I can't wait to see what's in store for this week. I tried to convey the importance and utter uber-coolness of a T-1000 to Marissa but she had no interest in my nerdy escapades and lamented me wasting her time with such mundane conversation. Oh well, her loss!

5 days until I get married!
6 days until my honeymoon cruise!

is it time to cruise yet?

Today marks one week until I go on my 7 night cruise into the Caribbean and I think this will be an amazing trip. We're both really excited about it and I can't wait to go spend that time with Marissa on the ship. It's going to be a great time and it's so weird that it's almost here!

Unlike yesterday, I was quite busy today and hardly in the apartment. Between all of the little errands and things I had to do, I didn't get back into the apartment to actually relax until about 4pm so now I'm taking it easy for the rest of the evening. One of the errands I had to do was pick up a jar full of green chili from Garcias. A friend from New Mexico is in town and graciously brought it to me so I can't wait to have that for dinner tonight (and tomorrow unless I can't help myself from eating it all tonight).

Last night we went out to dinner with Josh, Sarah and Erin and I think it was fun. The food was good and not terribly expensive and it was nice being out with everyone again. What tends to happen is time goes by between seeing our friends and I forgot how much fun it is to get out and do something. After dinner Glenn joined us and he, I and Josh and Sarah wanted to go to a bar so we tried out the bar at the Sheraton Safari hotel. It wasn't a bad place and the bartender was a nice guy. There was this one guy there that was completely belligerently drunk although he kept his distance from us so it was amusing. We had a few beers and had a good time talking about lots of different things.

Well, my green chili is calling to me like Aztec gold to pirates so I must be going to stuff my face with awesome chili.

So as you can tell, I'm giving blogging another shot. What happened last time? Well, basically the software I was using crapped out on me and died and I could have saved it but I got lazy and decided to let it die. The thing is since I basically gave up on the blog, I started getting the itch to write again so I could put down my thoughts and plans on "paper" (digital or otherwise) and I kind of missed being able to ramble on and on about not a whole lot.

So here I am, going to give it another go and see how it goes. This may very well die out again down the road but for now, this is my stab at taking another shot at filling no one in on what's going on in my life. I'd rather not even attempt to fill in the gap from my last blog entry until now so instead, I'll stick with what's on my mind for today.

Once Marissa comes home from work, we're going out for dinner (and drinks?) with our local friends. I proposed the idea to Marissa to go out one more time with our friends before the wedding madness descends upon us next week in the form of family and friends (and those who are invited yet we don't really know but family members made us invite). We're going to Don Pablos, followed by hopefully some drinking. Nothing crazy but we'll see where the night takes us. Marissa is a notoriously anti-drinker because when she drinks, she gets sleepy and then looses the will to stay up and out. While I have trouble saying no to her, we'll be with friends who will likely exude upon her the notion to go out and she will succumb to peer pressure.

It's almost time for Marissa to get off work and I'm still in my PJ's. I've been a lazy ass today and the most I've done is do laundry and install this blog software so I need to get in gear and get ready. Hopefully another blog entry will be posted after this....eventually.
