moved in!

After a long and numbing experience, we moved into our first home on Friday. We got the call Thursday morning to set up a closing and we had the closing that afternoon. It felt so good to have that monkey off our back and I took the day off Friday to move in. We hired a moving company and that was the best money I ever spent considering how quickly they did everything, how hot it was and what a good job they did.

We spent the remainder of the weekend unpacking and organizing and buying some things for the house. Marissa's parents drove in to help us and it was great having them there to lend a hand. I know Marissa and I are so happy to be living in the house now and finally enjoying it. Funny thing is there are some kids across the street that are like 7 and 3 years old and the 7 year old likes me I guess, because whenever we are outside, he comes and says hello. I kind of feel like Mr. Wilson from "Dennis the Menace".

Speaking of the kids, yesterday I was unpacking and found an unopened Star Wars figure and was going to throw it out but decided to give it to the kids across the street. Well, I walked over there and the younger kid was there and after getting it said, "I hate Star Wars!". LOL

i just don't want to

I know I haven't written anything really at all lately but I've been completely unmotivated to write. I've had things to say but no interesting slant to it so I've just opted to not write anything at all.

One thing I did want to comment on was the weather on my trip to Long Island this past weekend. The highs were in the 70's and the lows in 60s, maybe high 50's at some point. Look, I don't want to be that Floridian that complains when temps are below 80 but it felt darn cold being up there in that weather. I mean, it's July; it ought to be hotter than that and I think any northener will tell you that it is unseasonably cool. When we left, I was afraid of coming back on Sunday and missing the nice north east weather but the truth was it felt good being back in Florida where it felt like summer. Sure its nice not getting into a car that is a bazillion degees or sweating when you walk to get the mail, but I really don't mind the weather down here (apart from the hurricanes).

go marlins

I noticed this morning that the Marlins are playing Tampa this weekend in Tampa so I quickly glanced at Craigslist to see if there were any tickets for a game this weekend. Lo and behold, I found box seats with parking for $100 so I called the guy and bought the tickets. The guy probably had about 7 or 8 teeth but the tickets are legit so Glenn and I are going to Tampa Sunday afternoon. I can't wait because I haven't been to a baseball game since...umm...Baltimore a few years ago with John? I don't even remember but suffice to say, it's been a while and I can't wait. The game is at 1:30 but I think we'll get there early and enjoy batting practice.
