I'm back from Atlanta and I was greeted this morning by my car which refused to start. The battery was dead and I had no AAA coverage and my insurance policy didn't cover that sort of thing and I nearly gave into paying some garage who knows how much money to come give me a jump when my last chance of hope, a friend who lives in town, was around and drove by and gave me a jump. In the end I was only like 45 minutes late to work but thank god for him.
Speaking of cars, I have officially ruled Atlanta out as a city I could live in. I have nothing against the city or the people, but the traffic is absolutely horrid. I spent 1.5 hours commuting across town on Friday and 30 minutes on Thursday (and that commute was only 6 miles!). No thanks, I'll stick with the fake traffic we have on I-4.
I have a new gym plan, which consists of 30 minute workouts on Tuesday and Thursday and then a longer 60+ minute workout on the weekend. I'm going to try it this week and I'm glad I decided on that because today I'm totally not feeling 100% motivated to do anything. I need to gradually get my ass back in gear about nearly everything.
On our drive back home yesterday, we made a pit stop at the Apple store at the Florida Mall and bought Marissa the new iPhone. Normally I'm jealous when it comes to others getting geeky toys but honestly I was okay with Marissa getting it and not me. Sure, I'd love to have one but for whatever reason I wasn't overly jealous. Perhaps I'm finally maturing (yea right!).
I had a pretty busy weekend and I did everything I had planned, which is unusual. On Saturday morning I went to the driving range at Disney and had fun, even though I didn't drive the balls as well as I had hoped. We were there for a solid hour but I'd have gone longer, if not for the fact that I developed two nasty blisters on my hands. I also tweaked a muscle in my left lower back but I'm eager to get back and play again. I also signed up for Planet Fitness gym, which isn't as nice as Lifestyle was, but the price at Planet Fitness is much more affordable.
This week will mostly consist of cleaning our apartment since Marissa's parents are coming to stay with us for the weekend. Things are generally clean, we just need to put a lot of stuff away and cleaning up on the scale that is needed is never fun to do at all. I'm very good at putting away but in terms of actually cleaning something, I'm bad at.
Last night we renewed our membership to Sam's Club after letting our membership expire for about a month. We were members last year but towards the end of our membership year got kind of turned off from the place for a few reasons, but it turns out buying things in bulk isn't just nice, it's a necessity. When we compare prices of like paper towels, paper plates, salsa, and a number of different items you can buy at Sam's Club versus at the supermarket, you quickly see how much cheaper things are at Sam's Club. What I think put the decision over the top is my vision plan I get from work has Sam's Club as an in-network provider so we decided to go back and renew.
I can't wait for this weekend so I can go sign up for Planet Fitness already. Not going to the gym this week, I feel like I'm gaining weight by the minute. Planet Fitness still has it's $10 per month plan out there so I'm going to try them out and see how it goes. I am planning on the gym being no where near as nice as Lifestyle, generally because a gym that charges $40/month should be nicer than a $10/month gym.
Yesterday ended rather poorly for me. We went to the gym after work to workout and subsequently cancel our gym membership. I qualified for a complete refund because I came at least once a week for the last 4 weeks but Marissa missed last week due to her being sick so she didn't qualify for the refund, which I was willing to handle. The issue is that since she didn't qualify for the intro month refund thing, she is treated like any member who cancels and the stupid gym requires 60 day cancellation notice, so not only do I have to pay for her first month, I have to pay for 3 months of her before she'll actually be able to cancel. So Marissa has a nice membership at the gym through April 20th even though she wants to cancel today. It's quite dumb.
Adding to the frustration was as I was getting out of my car when I got home from the gym, I dropped my work cell phone and it's basically broken. The thing tries to turn on and then just goes black and tries to restart again and it just goes in an endless loop. So when I actually got home, I was really frustrated between the phone and the gym. I'll never understand how sometimes I can be so dumb about these things.
It's Friday and I'm ready for another weekend. Unfortunately my new PC parts will not be here until Tuesday so I won't be able to play with my new baby. Instead, since Marissa is working Saturday and Sunday, I will be on my own to do random things. I have a few errands to do like get a haircut and do a photo update. Generally speaking, it will be a boring weekend without much actually happening.
I was at the gym yesterday and when I do weights, I use the machines to work out whatever muscle group I'm interested in. I did some thinking as I was on one of the machines of are free weights better at getting your muscles bigger faster? It seems the meat heads that have huge muscles only use free weights while the dainty gym noobs are in the weight machines. Is there some secret I haven't been told? To me, it seems like there isn't a difference unless you want to start lifting more than like 150 pounds.
Speaking of the gym, I don't know how but somehow I've managed to become one of those people who actually like going to the gym. Moreover, when I don't go to the gym on a day I'm supposed to, I feel like I lied to my mom about a test I failed (that's a bad feeling, for those keeping track). I guess I just like the idea of keeping in shape and I really like leaving the gym and feeling like a million bucks. It's really, really scary.
This is actually quite funny, even if the DJ's are hacks
