i just don't want to

I know I haven't written anything really at all lately but I've been completely unmotivated to write. I've had things to say but no interesting slant to it so I've just opted to not write anything at all.

One thing I did want to comment on was the weather on my trip to Long Island this past weekend. The highs were in the 70's and the lows in 60s, maybe high 50's at some point. Look, I don't want to be that Floridian that complains when temps are below 80 but it felt darn cold being up there in that weather. I mean, it's July; it ought to be hotter than that and I think any northener will tell you that it is unseasonably cool. When we left, I was afraid of coming back on Sunday and missing the nice north east weather but the truth was it felt good being back in Florida where it felt like summer. Sure its nice not getting into a car that is a bazillion degees or sweating when you walk to get the mail, but I really don't mind the weather down here (apart from the hurricanes).

Stupid Monday

I'm back from Atlanta and I was greeted this morning by my car which refused to start. The battery was dead and I had no AAA coverage and my insurance policy didn't cover that sort of thing and I nearly gave into paying some garage who knows how much money to come give me a jump when my last chance of hope, a friend who lives in town, was around and drove by and gave me a jump. In the end I was only like 45 minutes late to work but thank god for him.

Speaking of cars, I have officially ruled Atlanta out as a city I could live in. I have nothing against the city or the people, but the traffic is absolutely horrid. I spent 1.5 hours commuting across town on Friday and 30 minutes on Thursday (and that commute was only 6 miles!). No thanks, I'll stick with the fake traffic we have on I-4.

I have a new gym plan, which consists of 30 minute workouts on Tuesday and Thursday and then a longer 60+ minute workout on the weekend. I'm going to try it this week and I'm glad I decided on that because today I'm totally not feeling 100% motivated to do anything. I need to gradually get my ass back in gear about nearly everything.

On our drive back home yesterday, we made a pit stop at the Apple store at the Florida Mall and bought Marissa the new iPhone. Normally I'm jealous when it comes to others getting geeky toys but honestly I was okay with Marissa getting it and not me. Sure, I'd love to have one but for whatever reason I wasn't overly jealous. Perhaps I'm finally maturing (yea right!).

favorite chick flick

After work yesterday I walked with our foreman around the house. It was the first time I was actually inside the house (aside from the one or two times Marissa and stepped one or two feet into the garage before running away from fear of something falling on us). It's really cool and really scary seeing the house coming together. All the windows and doors are in and I was in pretty much every room. It's cool because it's our house but it's scary because....it's our house. The floor plans have been ingrained in my head for months now but it's exciting to see things progress the way they are. I can't wait to move in.

Last night as I was getting into bed, I turned the TV on and flipped through the channels before stopping on....Lifetime. I had to because my all-time favorite chick flick was on....You've got mail. For some reason, I've always found it entertaining, probably because I could relate to the fact the characters fall in love online. It's sappy and by today's standards terribly outdated (no one dials in to get internet anymore, no one uses AOL anymore and no one uses that version of AOL anymore). For whatever reason, this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine and I couldn't help but watch it.

my new favorite movie

Over the weekend I saw a movie I hadn't seen in a few years, called "Wet Hot American Summer". It's basically a spoof of 80's summer camp movies, without being all that spoofy. Here's the trailer...

It's one of those classic movies where it's a lot of smart ass humor involved. It came out like 7 or 8 years ago and I saw it back then and liked it but I saw it again with Marissa and I rediscovered how great it is. Go find a copy of it and watch it because it's that good.

yes, i am weird

So I have this weird hangup about taking showers in the morning. Basically, I don't like taking showers in the morning. I just don't like the feeling of taking a shower when I'm tired. For some reason, I feel like I can feel every drop of water and it's not enjoyable for me. I know, weird.

It all started in middle school, when I decided that because I was going to middle school that I would start showering in the morning because it's what adults do. So I would wake up 20-30 minutes earlier and go shower. The problem was I hated it. I was more tired than before and the whole time I'd just be in the shower wishing I was still asleep. So after a little while I gave it up and went back to showering at night and haven't looked back. Occasionally I'll have to shower in the morning for something that day but if I can avoid it, I do.

So there you have it....a look into my mind. Not sure if there are any other anti-morning-shower people out there but thought I'd throw that out there because I was thinking about it over the weekend.
